The Eighth House

The Eighth House is the house of Regeneration

With Scorpio as the natural ruler of this house, the energy displayed is also that of Pluto, it’s planetary ruler. Because of this, the eighth house is often considered the house of sex, transformation, death, rebirth, personal growth, and more. This is the area of our lives where we need to consider our outlook towards crisis, as crisis can be a challenge but can also lead to opportunity for maturity.

We can look to this house to shed light on any particular psychological hangups we may have, such as addiction. Jealousy lives in this house, what are things in our lives in which we covet? Where in our lives do we overindulge? The eighth house holds the key to those answers, among other things.

Death, as this house connotes, can mean the destruction or breakdown of old habits, vices and superfluities, to leave room for a new, more beautiful you to bloom. This is the house of the Phoenix, the mythical creature who dies in a show of flames only to rise again through the ashes to be reborn anew.

This house, opposite the second house which rules personal finances, lords over the finances of others. For example, this house represents the money from a partner or an inheritance, or the money owed to another person, such as alimony, or taxes. The eighth house teaches us to make room for new growth, to let go of some of the blockers in our life in order to enable the more perfect self to shine through.
