The Ninth House
The Ninth House is the house of Philosophy
Wise Sagittarius rules this house, with Jupiter at the seat. The ninth house is the house of the higher mind, it rules over all of which causes us to ponder that which is beyond us. This house is where we will find our personal belief systems, the religion to which we subscribe, our system of morality or philosophical endeavors.
This is the house of adventure, long distance travel, foreign places we long for. This house may indicate whether you venture away from home as an adult or stay local, or whether you just love to travel to new places. This house also tells us about our aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws all of which are family but don’t typically live close in our household. The ninth house represents knowledge gained through distant sources and cultures, perhaps a love of foreign literature and poetry (or conversely, your dislike for them).
Like the arrow of Sagittarius, this house may indicate your ability to focus on things beyond this realm, such as intuition, inspiration or even spirituality. Our overall understanding can be seen here, for example, whether or not we choose to keep an open mind on our ever changing world and society. The ninth house gives us the bigger picture, so we don't get stuck looking at the trees, forgetting we are actually in a forest.
